Mrs. McClure earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a master’s in Educational Leadership from Eastern Illinois University. She began her career teaching first and third grade before becoming principal at Flaget in 2019.
Fun Fact: In college, she worked as a security guard at the Krannert Art Museum.
Mrs. Brooks earned her bachelors degree from Oakland City University. She has taught both 4th and 5th grade, as well as PE and PreK. She has been teaching at Flaget Elementary since 2022.
Fun Fact: She completed her LPN certification from Vincennes University in 2018.
Mrs. Fisher earned her Bachelor's in Elementary Education from Eastern Illinois University in 2000. She began her teaching career at Flaget in August of 2001. While at Flaget, she has taught Kindergarten, 1st grade, 3rd grade, and now Pre-K. She has taught at Flaget for 25+ years.
Fun Fact: She has been teaching so long.... she now have the privilege of teaching her former student's children!
Mrs. Brown has an Associate of Applied Science and a Technical Certificate in Early Childhood Education. She has been teaching in a preschool classroom for 18 years. This is her first year at Flaget.
Fun Fact: Mrs. Brown’s family has an Amish background.
Mrs. Allen attended Indiana State University and Saint Mary of the Woods. She began teaching at Flaget in 2011 and has taught 5th grade, 3rd grade, and kindergarten.
Fun fact: Mrs. Allen was an adult probation officer and has worked in a prison.
Mrs. Miller earned her bachelor’s degree from Oakland City University. She has been teaching since 2018. She has been with Flaget Elementary since 2022.
Fun Fact: She played college softball at OCU.
Miss Sponn earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern Indiana. She joined the Flaget Family in the fall of 2009 as a fourth grade teacher and has since spent the past 16 years teaching first grade.
Fun Fact: Miss Sponn loves to sing. She has had the privilege of singing at several weddings, funerals, and special events for family and friends.
Mrs. Sexton graduated from the University of Southern Indiana with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Special Education with a focus on Mild Interventions. She also holds a master’s degree from Ball State University in Special Education, specializing in Severe and Profound Disabilities. Before joining the Flaget family as a second-grade teacher, Mrs. Sexton worked as a special education resource teacher, bringing a strong background in meeting the diverse needs of all learners.
Mrs. Jones has been a classroom teacher since 2011, holding a master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Indiana Wesleyan University and a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Indiana State University.
Fun Fact: She traveled nationally as well as internationally (all the way to Tokyo, Japan) to educate on the economic and nutritional values of one of Knox County's best homegrown resources as the 2009 National Watermelon Queen.
Miss Paris graduated from the University of Southern Indiana with Bachelor’s degrees in both Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education in 2020. She got her Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Western Governor’s University in 2021. She has been at Flaget since 2020.
Fun Fact: Miss Paris played golf in high school and participated in all the spring musicals!
Mrs. Hoke graduated from Southern Illinois University - Carbondale in 2007. She has taught middle school language arts, third grade, middle school math, and has been teaching at Flaget since 2023.
Fun Fact: Mrs. Hoke has a black belt.
Mrs. Jane is a South Knox High School graduate and earned her degree from VU. With 40 years in education, she has taught preschool at Head Start and Civitan Children’s Center. Since 2023, she has served as the librarian at Flaget, sharing her love of learning and books with students each day.
Fun Fact: Mrs. Jane vacations every summer at Mackinac Island with her family.
Mrs. Ashley earned her Bachelor of Science in Fashion Design in 2015. She was a stay at home mother until beginning her career as Secretary at Flaget in 2024.
Fun Fact: She used to design custom patterns for Indy Car drivers, including Sir Jackie Stewart and Jeff Gordon retro replicas.
Mrs. Rexing earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Education from the University of Southern Indiana. She then went on to earn her Masters in Education from Indiana Wesleyan University. Mrs. Rexing has taught Kindergarten, 1st grade, and Title 1 over the years. She has served as the Title 1 teacher at Flaget since 2024.
Fun Fact: A few years ago, Mrs. Rexing trained for and ran a half marathon - she won in her age group!
Miss Julia earned her special education teaching degree from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College. After being a stay-at-home mom for many years, she started working at Flaget. She has been at Flaget for 10 years as a K-2 resource teacher.
Fun Fact: She loves to travel and has visited 11 national parks.
Diana graduated from Indiana State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Special Education. She has taught since 1995 and has taught a Flaget since 2022.
Fun Fact: She is fluent in American Sign Language and rides her own Harley.
Ms. Wagler is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). She earned her bachelor's and master's degrees in social work from the University of Southern Indiana in 2008 and 2009. Her background includes outpatient therapy with an emphasis on children in foster care, in addition to crisis intervention experience in hospital and inpatient settings. Ms. Wagler has been with Youth First and Flaget since January 2024.
Fun Fact: She is an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan. Busch Stadium is one of her favorite places.
Mrs. Swing graduatedd from Vincennes University with a degree in Cosmetology. She has worked in 3 school for a total of 26 years. She and her husband have been married for 54 years. They have 2 children and 2 grandchildren.
Fun Fact: Mrs. Swing's great-great-greatgrandfather was President James K. Polk.
Fun Fact: Mrs. Doll likes to ride the tram in Gatlinburg, TN. She says that when you ride it in person, the guides talk about the Cliff Hanger. This is a house that was built years ago, by Mrs. Doll's father-in-law, for a man of wealth. Only 3 feet of the house touches the ground, whereas the rest is suspended over the mountain.
